Aldi Australia collected 18 awards at the Melbourne International Wine Competition, including a Gold for the South Point Estate Pinot Grigio priced at $4.59, underscoring the retailer's ongoing emphasis on value in its private-label wines.

Several Aldi wines earned Double Gold honors in the competition's top tier, including Corte Carista Delle Venezie Pinot Grigio at $9.99, Blackstone Paddock Shiraz at $12.99 and EL Toro Macho Bobal Tempranillo Reserva at $8.99. These prizes placed Aldi wines among more expensive entries such as Burton Valley Head Over Heels Pinot Noir at $10, Winton Road Eden Valley Chardonnay at $20 and Old Testament Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon at $22.50.

In the Gold category, the South Point Estate Pinot Grigio was recognized alongside eight other Aldi wines. Additional Aldi white Golds included Freya & Jules Riesling at $9.99, Kaiora Bay Reserve Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at $12.99 and the Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc at $9.99. An Aldi rosé also earned a Gold, the Loire Valley Cabernet Franc Rosé at $9.99. The Gold tally also included the Blackstone Paddock Limited Release Chardonnay, which was yet to be released at the time of the competition.

Across the competition, Aldi also collected notable red wine wins. Gold awards went to Corte Carista Chianti Superiore DOC at $11.99 and Freya & Jules Shiraz at $12.99, along with The Venturer Series Durif at $7.99 and Truly Wildly Premium Bodied Shiraz at $13.99. The results come as part of Aldi's broader strategy to offer affordable wines that can compete with higher-priced bottles on quality and value.

The Melbourne International Wine Competition is judged by a panel of four qualified trade buyers, restaurateurs, sommeliers, retail spirits buyers, distributors and importers, a mix that underscores the industry-wide recognition of Aldi's private-label wines. Jason Bowyer, Aldi Australia’s Wine Buying Director, said the results reinforce the retailer’s commitment to quality and value. "We're proud to be celebrating another incredible year of ALDI wines continuing to impress and win accolades at the Melbourne International Wine Competition," Bowyer said. "These outstanding awards are a testament to the exceptional quality of our wines, sourced both locally and abroad, and highlights the incredible value we're able to offer ALDI shoppers."
