Hunter Pence lists Malibu oceanfront mansion for $39 million

Hunter Pence has placed his Malibu oceanfront mansion on the market with an asking price of $39 million, according to a listing made public this week.

The midcentury modern property spans 7,356 square feet and features five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping coastal views from its location on the beach side of the Pacific Coast Highway overlooking Malibu Cove Colony.

The home is designed for indoor-outdoor living and includes a zero-edge infinity pool, a built-in barbecue and outdoor kitchen, a fire pit and a walk-up indoor-outdoor bar. Interior amenities listed by the seller include a gourmet kitchen anchored by an 18-foot marble island, top-tier appliances and a wine refrigerator; a lounge bar with a media room; a home gym; and a dedicated office. The primary suite features a spa-style bathroom and a large walk-in closet.

Pence purchased the house in 2016 while playing for the San Francisco Giants and said he customized it as a family retreat. In a statement provided to Daily Mail Sport, Pence said, "Malibu's surf, energy, and the sense of peace drew me to this location. Building this home was all about creating a private retreat where my family could slow down, recharge, and enjoy everything this community has to offer. My hope is that whoever steps into it, makes their own unforgettable memories here."

Pence, 42, retired from Major League Baseball in 2021 and has since worked in sports broadcasting, motivational speaking and community engagement. His representatives said he and his wife, Alexis Cozombolidis, have become increasingly rooted in San Francisco as his role with the Giants expands, prompting the decision to list the Malibu residence.

A right fielder by trade, Pence was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2004, made his major league debut in 2007, and after a brief stint with the Philadelphia Phillies signed with the Giants in 2012. He was a four-time All-Star and won two World Series championships during eight seasons with the Giants.

The listing comes amid broader interest in high-end Southern California coastal real estate, though the property remains actively listed and no sale has been reported. Pence and his wife married in 2016; the couple does not have children, according to the listing materials and media reports.

Representatives for Pence did not disclose a listing broker in the materials provided, and no open-house dates were included with the public listing information. The sale will mark the transfer of a home that Pence said he created as a private family retreat during his playing days in the Bay Area.
