Las Vegas launches citywide discounts as tourism slows

Las Vegas has launched a citywide discount event to bolster visitor numbers as tourism slows, calling it The Fabulous 5-Day Sale. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said the limited-time program runs Monday through Friday and will offer deals on hotels, shows, dining and experiences to invite travelers back to Sin City. "This limited-time sale will deliver incredible deals on resorts, restaurants, entertainment and experiences, extending a citywide invitation to visitors to rediscover the magic, energy and unbeatable value of Las Vegas," the LVCVA said in a statement.

Participating properties span a wide range of Strip brands, with about 75 hotels and resorts listed as taking part in the sale. The discounts come as part of an ongoing effort following a September launch of a $35 million Welcome to Fabulous promotional campaign designed to recapture momentum in a market where bookings have softened. Examples of offers include Bellagio offering up to 25% off rooms with a $100 daily food and drink credit, the Venetian providing up to 33% off suite rates plus a $50 cocktail credit, and Fontainebleu offering 20% off stays with no resort fee and a $50 daily dining credit with free parking.

Other limited-time deals include the Las Vegas Monorail's buy-one-ticket-get-one-half-off promotion and MGM Resorts' two-attractions package for $55, part of a broader network of value adds across the city.

Tourism data reflect the downturn. There were 3,089,300 visitors to Las Vegas in July, down from more than 3.5 million in the same period last year, and hotel occupancy on the Strip declined about 7% from 86.5% in 2024, according to the LVCVA.

Some visitors described the city as busy despite the downturn. Katherine, a traveler from College Station, Texas, said, "We've still seen a ton of people... It doesn't seem like it's slow to us. It still seems pretty busy." Oren, visiting from Ireland for a wedding, added, "It's not too busy. I prefer it not being too busy, to be honest." Canadians Janice and Faith, who traveled with husbands for a conference, said, "It's quite busy, and even at lunch we need reservations... It's the same old Vegas." Matt from London said this was his second visit and found the vibe "not too busy" and "very mellow during the day."

Overall, while July figures show a year-over-year decline, the city is pushing a value-focused approach to attract visitors, emphasizing resort credits, dining deals and entertainment savings to refresh the visitor mix. Industry officials say the outcomes of The Fabulous 5-Day Sale will help gauge demand and influence ongoing marketing strategies as Las Vegas navigates a slower tourism cycle.
