Lloyds Bank offers £200 switching bonus for Club Lloyds and Premier accounts

Lloyds Bank has launched a switching incentive that will pay new and eligible existing customers £200 when they move their current account to either Club Lloyds or Lloyds Premier.

The reward is the highest current high-street switching bonus, but it is conditional. Existing Lloyds customers must transfer their current account using the Current Account Switch Service from Sept. 16, while new customers must transfer at least three active direct debits to qualify. Standing orders and recurring card payments do not count towards the direct-debit requirement. The bank said it will pay the bonus within ten working days to customers who meet the eligibility criteria, and warned the offer has no set end date and could be withdrawn at any time. Anyone who has received a switching bonus from Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland since April 2020 is ineligible.

Customers must also weigh the switching payment against ongoing fees and required deposits. Club Lloyds carries a £5 monthly fee unless the account receives £2,000 or more in monthly pay-ins, in which case the fee is waived. Club Lloyds Silver and Platinum tiers add £11.50 and £22.50 respectively on top of the base Club Lloyds fee; these additional tier fees are also subject to waiver by meeting the £2,000 monthly deposit threshold. Lloyds Premier charges £15 a month, but that fee is waived if the account holder pays in £5,000 per month or holds £100,000 of qualifying savings or investments. Lloyds says Lloyds Premier perks are worth £100 per month.

Lloyds described a package of benefits for paid accounts. Basic Club Lloyds holders can earn three per cent interest on cash balances up to £5,000 and 6.25 per cent on funds held in a Club Lloyds savings account. Club Lloyds customers may choose one lifestyle perk such as a 12-month Disney+ subscription, a Coffee Club and Gourmet Society membership offering 25 per cent off participating outlets, six cinema tickets at Odeon or Vue, or an annual magazine subscription. Lloyds noted a 12-month Disney+ standard plan with ads is priced at £4.99 per month (about £59.88 a year), while six Vue cinema tickets could equate to up to roughly £65.94 of savings depending on location and time of day.

Lloyds Premier customers receive additional benefits, including a Bupa Family GP subscription service, monthly cashback of up to £10 and a 0.2 percentage-point discount on residential new mortgage and remortgage rates, the bank said.

The incentive represents an increase from the bank’s July switching reward of £185. Other banks are also offering bonuses: First Direct is advertising a £175 switching payment to move to its free current account, with that bonus paid within 45 days of account opening.

"We know switching bank can feel like a big step, so we're making it rewarding and easy," said Vivek Khattri, Lloyds' personal current accounts and overdrafts director. "Whether you're after cashback, lifestyle perks like Disney+, cinema tickets or smart travel booking — it's all simple to manage on the go in our app. Plus switching to Club Lloyds or Lloyds Premier now means you get £200 in your pocket."

The bank reiterated that customers must meet the specified account and switch requirements to receive the cash incentive and that the offer may be withdrawn without notice. Consumers should consider monthly fees, deposit thresholds and the value of offered perks when deciding whether switching delivers a net financial benefit.
