McDonald's Australia to give away free Cheeseburgers on International Cheeseburger Day
One free Cheeseburger per customer with a minimum $1 purchase via the MyMacca's app on Sept. 18, 2025, as part of the Year of Value initiative.

McDonald's Australia is giving away free Cheeseburgers for one day, available to customers who spend $1 through the MyMacca's app on Sept. 18, 2025, International Cheeseburger Day.
"Aussies love a good cheeseburger - and what better way to celebrate International Cheeseburger Day than by giving one away for free to our biggest fans?" Mary Vrancic, senior marketing director at McDonald's Australia, said. "The Cheeseburger is one of our most loved and iconic menu items, and this one-day-only offer is our way of saying thanks to our loyal MyMacca's customers. It's just one example of how we're delivering on our promise of great value - not just today, but every day. And trust us - there's more to come, so keep your eyes on the app."
The offer is limited to one free Cheeseburger per customer and requires a minimum spend of $1 via the MyMacca's app, ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 18, 2025. The promotion is presented as part of McDonalds Year of Value, which also includes a 12-month price promise on the $6.95 McSmart Meal and the Loose Change Menu.
This move aligns with McDonalds broader strategy to drive traffic to its loyalty app by offering valuable, time-limited deals to reward frequent customers. The company has emphasized value as a core pillar, aiming to convert occasional visitors into regular MyMacca's app users while showcasing the menu's enduring appeal with iconic items like the Cheeseburger.
To redeem the offer, customers must place a qualifying order through the MyMacca's app and select the free Cheeseburger reward at checkout, with the total order meeting the minimum $1 spend requirement. The deal applies to purchases at participating McDonalds Australia locations.
The one-day promotion comes as consumer-facing promotions tied to International Cheeseburger Day continue to surge in popularity across fast-food chains, with loyalty apps playing a central role in driving engagement and repeat visits. McDonalds Australia has not indicated any additional promotions tied to this event beyond the current offer, but officials have signaled that more value-driven initiatives are on the way as part of the Year of Value initiative.
