Professional cleaner hails $9 Bunnings buy for stubborn kitchen grease

A Sydney professional cleaner has endorsed a low-cost product sold at Bunnings as an effective solution for removing oil and grease from stovetop range hoods, in a video that has attracted attention on social media.

Sara Allan, who operates cleaning business Housekeeping Heroes, demonstrated the product — Tricleanium — in a clip posted to her @housekeepingheroesnsw TikTok account and told the Daily Mail the item was a “game changer.” Tricleanium is sold as a ready-to-use spray, priced at A$9.98, and as a 1 kg concentrate powder, which retails for A$18.98.

In the video, Allan begins the cleaning process by diluting roughly half a cup of the Tricleanium concentrate into a 10-litre bucket of hot water before applying the solution to range hood components. The product is marketed as an ultra-concentrated all-purpose cleanser designed to tackle tough cleaning jobs such as grease removal.

Allan noted that shoppers may not find the product in the cleaning aisle; Tricleanium is stocked in the paint section at Bunnings. It is also available through other retailers, including Mitre 10 and online marketplaces such as Amazon.

Retail placement in paint sections reflects manufacturers’ positioning of some concentrated cleaners as multi‑use or trade products. Tricleanium’s availability in both pre-mixed spray form and as a powder concentrate gives consumers the option of a single-use product or a longer-lasting, dilutable solution, depending on cleaning frequency and scale.

The TikTok clip contributes to a broader trend of household cleaning tips gaining wide exposure on social media, often prompting consumers to seek out specific products. Allan’s public demonstration focuses on a practical technique for a commonly neglected and grease-prone appliance part, and she framed her recommendation as a professional tip rather than a paid endorsement.

Tricleanium’s price points and placement in hardware stores may appeal to consumers looking for cost-effective, heavy-duty cleaners. As with any concentrated cleaning chemical, product labels advise users to follow dilution instructions and safety guidance provided by the manufacturer when handling and applying the solution.
