Rebel Wilson relists Balmain apartment, enlists sister as agent

Rebel Wilson has relisted a two-bedroom apartment in Balmain, Sydney, this week with a $2 million asking price and has appointed her younger sister, Anne Wilson, as the selling agent.

The property, located in the converted Lever Brothers soap factory about 4 kilometres from the Sydney central business district, was previously scheduled for auction in 2024 but was pulled from the market and later let on a short-term lease. The latest listing follows earlier price adjustments and marketing that failed to produce a sale.

The two-level apartment includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a rooftop terrace and a study. The main bedroom features a walk-in robe and an ensuite. The kitchen is fitted with Carrara quartz benchtops, an integrated Liebherr refrigerator and a breakfast bar. The residence also features engineered oak floorboards, ducted air conditioning, custom joinery and a double security parking garage equipped with an electric-vehicle charging station.

Rebel Wilson purchased the apartment off the plan in 2018 for $1.8 million. The property was first listed in June 2024 with an asking price of $2.3 million and was later advertised at $3.3 million in earlier marketing, according to public listings. Sources familiar with the sale process said previous agent advice included reducing the price to $2.2 million; rather than follow that course, the apartment was delisted and subsequently rented for about $1,200 a week before being returned to the market at $2 million.

Anne Wilson, who is handling the current campaign, is a licensed estate agent and the younger sister of the Hollywood actress. The appointment marks a family-led effort to sell the investment property after the earlier campaign failed to reach a sale under the previous listing arrangements.

The relisting comes after a period in which Sydney's inner-city apartment market has seen fluctuating demand and price adjustments for well-located heritage conversions. The Lever Brothers building is heritage listed and conversion to residential units has been marketed as a premium inner-west address.

Rebel Wilson has previously transacted several high-profile Sydney properties. In 2022 she sold a Birchgrove house for $9.5 million, a property she had bought in 2015 for $3.76 million and subsequently renovated; that sale represented a significant gain on the earlier purchase. In the same period she acquired another Birchgrove property through her company, Camp Sugar Productions, for roughly $3.6 million.

The current campaign will test buyer appetite at the $2 million price point for a compact, well-appointed apartment in a converted industrial building close to the CBD. The result will also conclude a sales process that included a pulled auction, a rental stint, and a family-member-led relaunch.

Marketing particulars, including open-for-inspection times and sale conditions, are being handled by Anne Wilson through the current listing. No contract of sale was reported at the time of publication.
