AJ Odudu flashes engagement ring as Big Brother returns with twists

Beaming AJ Odudu flashed a huge diamond engagement ring during her appearance on Vernon Kay's BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show in London on Friday. The TV presenter, 37, announced her engagement to fiancé Peter Gibson in June and showed off the dazzling rock on her left hand while posing in a long furry jacket over a maroon sweater and leather trousers paired with matching boots. Odudu accessorised with statement silver earrings and a red manicure as her long raven tresses were worn poker straight.

Odudu was on the air to promote Big Brother, which she co-hosts with Will Best ahead of its return to television on Sunday. Speaking on Lorraine, she teased that the new series will feature 'twists and turns galore' and that viewers should be glued to every moment, noting that the launch episode will include something 'never been done before' on the show. The new season coincides with Big Brother's 25th anniversary, tracing the show from its Channel 4 launch in 2000 with Davina McCall through Channel 5 in 2011 and its move to ITV in 2022. The network says this year’s run will be seven weeks long, longer than usual, to accommodate a slate of surprises the producers have promised.

Odudu has kept her romance private for years. Her engagement to Peter Gibson was revealed in the summer when the star shared images of the ring with the caption 'Hiya love' and a ring emoji. The engagement news followed a vacation posted from Mykonos, where she and Gibson were seen enjoying time together, underscoring how private their relationship had been prior to the public announcement.

Big Brother returns on Sunday, 28 September at 9 p.m. on ITV2 and ITVX, with Odudu rejoining Will Best to host the live broadcast. The updated format aims to extend the show’s familiar blend of social strategy and human drama across a longer season, with producers signaling more opportunities for the signature secrets and stunts that have defined the franchise over the years.

Odudu’s public profile has included roles beyond Big Brother, including presenting gigs across British television and continuing to shape her brand as a host and media personality. The engagement has kept her in the spotlight as she balances coverage of the show with her personal milestones, illustrating how personal and professional headlines intersect in culture and entertainment.
