Alyssa Milano marks 53rd birthday with makeup-free selfie, acknowledges Botox and fillers as she reflects on breast-implant removal
The actress posts a makeup-free Instagram portrait and discusses cosmetic treatments, after revealing she had breast implants removed earlier this year.

Alyssa Milano celebrated her 53rd birthday with an unfiltered selfie on Instagram, posting a makeup-free close-up and calling it her annual tradition. "My annual birthday selfie. No filter," she wrote, signaling that the image represents her natural look as she arrived at 53.
Milano did not pretend to forgo cosmetic treatment entirely. In the same post, she acknowledged ongoing cosmetic procedures, writing that she was not entirely makeup-free, noting, "No make up (just microbladed eye brows and whatever is left from my last round of Botox and filler). This is 53."
The actress revealed in September that she had breast implants removed as part of a personal effort to shed a body she described as sexualized and abused. In a hospital-gown post on Instagram, Milano explained that she had once believed implants were necessary to be attractive, but she now seeks to release that narrative. "Today I’m releasing those false narratives, the parts of me that were never actually parts of me. I’m letting go of the body that was sexualized, that was abused, that I believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy," she wrote, adding that her decision also aimed to spare her daughter from unhealthy beauty standards.
Milano’s birthday message also carried a political note. She said her wish for the year ahead was to elect more women into office, and she urged followers to contribute to @emergeamerica. The post arrived just under three months after she shared the breast-implant removal news, underscoring how the personal and political intersect in public figures who have long championed progressive causes.
Milano, who has daughter Elizabella, 11, and son Milo, 14, with her husband, talent agent David Bugliari, celebrated 16 years of marriage in August. The couple has been married since 2009, and Milano has remained a prominent voice in the #MeToo movement since 2017.
Beyond her latest Instagram update, Milano’s public arc includes a career that began with Who’s the Boss? and continued with Charmed, where she played a trio of powerful sisters who discover their supernatural talents. The latest post adds another layer to the Ordinary-to-Extraordinary narrative she has built in the public eye: a star who speaks candidly about choosing one’s own standards of femininity and self-worth.
