Alyssa Milano Removes Breast Implants, Says She’s Releasing False Narratives
Actress announces breast implant removal from hospital bed, says choosing authenticity over the body she once believed defined her success and femininity.

Alyssa Milano announced on Wednesday that she is having her breast implants removed, posting a photo from a hospital bed ahead of the procedure. The 52-year-old Charmed actress, who helped elevate the #MeToo movement in Hollywood during the Harvey Weinstein revelations, said she was reclaiming her own narrative by removing a body she says was sexualized and abused. In her caption, Milano wrote that she was ridding herself of "false narratives" and letting go of "the body that was sexualized" and tied to expectations she no longer wants to meet.
Milano did not disclose when she originally received the implants. In her post, she framed the decision as a personal journey toward authenticity, saying, "Today I’m releasing those false narratives, the parts of me that were never actually parts of me." She added that she hopes the change will also spare her daughter Bella from feeling the same unhealthy pressures. Milano shares two children, Elizabella and Milo, with her husband, talent agent David Bugliari, who runs a firm that represents high-profile actors and filmmakers.
"Now, I want to be clear that many women will find freedom and beauty in choosing their implants," Milano wrote. "What is a false narrative for me may be the exact right thing for them, and I am so happy that we can all find our femininity and peace on our own terms." She also credited Michelle Visage, the longtime host of RuPaul’s Drag Race, for her openness about breast implants, noting that Visage had implants removed in 2019 after deciding they contributed to an autoimmune condition. Milano wrote that she is "today loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful. None of that is because of my implants." She tagged Visage and her Beverly Hills surgeon, Dr. Tim Neavin, in the post.
The moment was met with encouragement from friends and fans in the comments. Visage responded, "I’M THRILLED FOR YOU! The heal is real baby! See you on the lighter side." Baywatch alumna Nicole Eggert offered support as well, tweeting that she was glad Milano was choosing what felt right for her. Milano’s broader message echoed a growing conversation among women about autonomy over their bodies, while also acknowledging that personal choices about implants can vary widely in their meaning and impact.
Milano has spoken publicly in the past about the pressures she faced in her twenties and how those experiences shaped her views on consent, power, and body image. In 2019, she described an encounter with an older actor during a film scene, an incident she did not name, and she has also cited earlier battles—such as the 1998 lawsuit against adult websites that posted unauthorized explicit images of her—as formative moments in shaping how she presents and protects her image. The decision to remove implants, according to Milano, is part of continuing to redefine success, happiness, and femininity on her own terms.
The actress’s latest post arrives as she continues to balance high-profile projects with advocacy work and family life. Milano and Bugliari, who are married since 2009, have built careers beyond acting, with Bugliari running a talent-management operation that has represented stars including Bradley Cooper and Danny McBride. Milano did not specify a timeline for the surgery beyond sharing the hospital-bed photo and the broader message about personal reinvention. As with many public figures, her choices will likely be a touchstone for discussions about body autonomy, self-perception, and the persistence of societal expectations surrounding women’s bodies in the entertainment industry.
