Beatrice ends Outward Bound Trust role as Epstein email fallout shapes royal charity ties

Princess Beatrice has ended her six-year tenure as a trustee of the Outward Bound Trust, the charity long associated with Prince Philip, six years after revelations surrounding her mother, Sarah Ferguson, and a leaked email to Jeffrey Epstein. In the 2011 message, Ferguson described Epstein as a 'steadfast, generous and supreme friend' and apologised for voicing criticisms of him in public. Since the email surfaced, eight charities have cut ties with Ferguson, underscoring the fragile position of royal-linked fundraising networks.

Beatrice's departure comes after her father, Prince Andrew, stepped back from numerous charities following his controversial Newsnight interview in which he discussed his friendship with Epstein. Andrew had been patron of the Outward Bound Trust for three years and previously chaired its board of trustees from 1999. The charity confirmed Beatrice's trusteeship ended this week, six years after she joined amid those trying circumstances.
