Bianca Dye reveals boxing-glove gift from Kerri-Anne Kennerley and talk of reality TV future

Bianca Dye reveals boxing-glove gift from Kerri-Anne Kennerley and talk of reality TV future

Bianca Dye has revealed a surprising birthday memento from Kerri-Anne Kennerley and what it signaled for her own ambitions in television. Speaking with Daily Mail at a RoC Skincare product launch in Melbourne, Dye recounted how Kennerley attended her 30th birthday party in 2003 and handed over a pair of boxing gloves as a gift, paired with blunt career advice. Dye, who has since built a varied media résumé, said the exchange underscored the tough realities of breaking into the industry. “I said, ‘I want to be you. I want to do my own show,’” Dye recalled. “She gave me a pair of boxing gloves for my 30th birthday. I’ve still got them. She said, ‘You’re going to need these if you’re going to work in this industry.’” The anecdote has become part of Dye’s broader reflection on those early years, when she also served as a music reviewer for Kennerley’s program and began carving out a niche in entertainment reporting and radio.

Dye’s career has since spanned a wide array of television and radio roles. She has appeared on programs such as Beauty and the Beast, Thank God You’re Here and Ready Steady Cook, as well as appearances on Celebrity Dog School, Celebrity Singing Bee and Australia’s Brainiest. Yet she found the deepest footing in radio, hosting The Nitemix Across Australia in the late 1990s and becoming a foundational presenter at Nova 96.9 in Sydney. Her resume also includes breakfast shifts at i98FM, 92.5 Gold FM and 97.3 FM, and more recently Sea FM 90.9, underscoring a steady, portable presence in Australian media over the years.

Beyond the personal anecdote, Dye clarified where she stands on prospective reality-TV opportunities. She said Nine has not approached her about becoming Australia’s first Golden Bachelorette, despite her openness to the idea. “They haven’t,” she said, adding that she would “love it” if the opportunity arose. Dye also expressed interest in The Amazing Race, naming her close friend Regina “Reggie” Sorensen, a former Big Brother participant, as a potential on-screen partner for a joint challenge. “We would be hilarious,” Dye quipped about the possibility of teaming up for the long-running competition.

Dye’s reality-TV footprint extends to her most recent high-profile outing, The Golden Bachelor Australia. She was a contestant in the show’s first season but was eliminated in episode five, an outcome she described as part of the typical churn of competitive dating programs. Since then, Dye has leveraged her visibility into brand collaborations, including a Cosmeceutical deal with RoC Skincare as the company rolled out a new product this week. The Derm Correxion Firming Serum Stick is marketed as delivering a visible tightening effect for the face and neck.

At The Royce in Melbourne, Dye attended a cocktail reception tied to RoC Skincare’s launch, where she served as a guest speaker. The event was hosted by Real Housewives of Melbourne star Kyla Kirkpatrick, and Dye was photographed in attendance alongside Kyle Kirkpatrick. The appearance underscored how Dye’s profile has evolved from reality television participant to a recognizable face in lifestyle and beauty branding, a trajectory she highlighted during the interview as she shared memories of early radio work and a continued interest in future TV opportunities. Even as she weighs new projects, Dye remains connected to the entertainment circuit, using her platform to discuss the evolution of reality television and the ongoing opportunities it presents for performers who have built careers across multiple media formats.
