Binky Felstead says younger self would be horrified by mum life as she embraces chaos, 'happily ever after'

Binky Felstead has said her younger self would be horrified by the mum life she leads now, a reality she says is far removed from the Made In Chelsea party-girl days that first brought her into the public eye. The south London native, now a mother of three, lives with husband Max Darnton and their children India, eight, Wolfie, four, and Wilder, two, in a busy, modern household that she candidly describes as chaotic but joyful. "My younger self would be horrified by my mum life," she told Daily Mail at the Disney Store Selfridges Key Opening Ceremony this week, noting that the day-to-day routine now feels like a natural part of life rather than a spectacle.

The former MIC star quit the show in 2017 to focus on her pregnancy and first child, India. Since then, she has built a presence as a 'mum influencer' and returned to television with the Beyond Chelsea spin-off. Felstead used the moment to illustrate how far she has come—from the Chelsea party days to a household widely described as full of love, laughter, and the occasional glitter-fueled morning. The most memorable “mum life” moment she cited recently was being covered in glitter and stickers before 8 a.m. and not questioning it, a scene she said sums up the balance of chaos and joy that now anchors her days.

Speaking to the Daily Mail at the Disney Store event, Felstead opened up about her idea of a perfect happily ever after. "My perfect happily ever after is the simple stuff like being at home together, everyone healthy, and laughing around the table," she explained. "It’s also getting out and about in our local area and enjoying that lovely sense of community we’re lucky to have close by. That’s our happily ever after. It doesn’t need to be fancy, it just needs to be full of love." She emphasized that motherhood is about finding what works for each family, rather than chasing perfection, and urged other parents to resist the pressure to compare themselves to others online.

To help others navigate the noisy phase of parenting, Felstead said carving out small moments for herself makes a big difference. "I sneak in early morning workouts or a quiet coffee before the kids wake up," she said. "It’s small, but it makes a huge difference to my mood for the day. Even ten minutes of calm can reset me for the chaos ahead." She also encouraged avoiding social-media comparisons, adding, "Be kind to yourself, and remember your kids just want your love and attention – not perfection."

Felstead’s social media presence underscores her honesty about family life. Her Instagram page, which she uses to share both the messy and magical sides of motherhood, has about 1.4 million followers. She said she has never shied away from showing the less glamorous aspects of parenting, a stance she believes has kept her connected with fans from her Chelsea days through to motherhood now. "I’ve never tried to hide the messy side of life, from the sleepless nights to the juggle to racing out the door with cold coffee in one hand and school bags in the other," she noted. "Sharing the chaos as well as the magic makes people smile and say, ‘That’s me too.’ I think that honesty has kept people connected with me over the years."

When the day ends, Felstead and her family unwind in a simple, comforting ritual: a Disney film on the sofa. "Even if the day’s been stressful, we can cuddle up on the sofa with a Disney film and it’s like hitting pause on everything else. It brings us back together, and those moments of calm are the ones that stick with you." The family’s routine reflects a broader shift in Felstead’s public life—from reality TV star to a mom who embraces both the chaos and the warmth of daily life.

The Disney Store at Selfridges marks a milestone for the family and their public-facing story. The store opens in London on September 25, with additional openings at Manchester Trafford Centre on September 29 and Birmingham Bullring and Manchester Exchange on October 13. Felstead and Wilder formally kicked off the store with the iconic Disney Store Key Ceremony, underscoring her ongoing connection to family-oriented experiences and her role as a relatable voice for parents navigating modern life.

Felstead’s journey from Made In Chelsea’s party image to a household name centered on motherhood, community, and candid discussion of real life offers a portrait of a public figure who has redefined celebrity through authenticity. As she continues to balance work with a lively family life, the sentiment that happiness lies in the everyday—shared meals, shared laughter, and shared moments of calm—appears to be the throughline of her evolving narrative.
