Cardi B reveals butt-reduction surgery left her bedridden for months
Pregnant rapper discussed the procedure, recovery and rumors on Call Her Daddy, and spoke about her ongoing comfort with her body.

Cardi B revealed on Wednesday's Call Her Daddy podcast that she previously underwent a butt-reduction surgery and spent three months bedridden after the procedure. The 32-year-old rapper, who is expecting a child with NFL star Stefon Diggs, addressed unsolicited comments about her body and her Brazilian Butt Lift, saying she had already taken steps to alter her figure.
During the interview, Cardi said she "already" had the reduction and acknowledged that some people still tell her to shrink it further. She noted that some outsiders overestimate the ease of such procedures and underestimate the recovery, describing the process as grueling and lengthy. She also emphasized that a reduction would require significant surgery, involving work from both the bottom and the top, followed by a lengthy period of bed rest.
"For me to reduce my butt, I have to literally sit on the table, get cut from the bottom, get cut from the top, and be on bed rest for three months," she said. "So it's like, I'm not gonna put myself in that position again because you don't like my body." She added that she is comfortable with her appearance and has learned to live with it, noting that she does not have complaints about herself or how others perceive her.
The star, who announced she is pregnant with Diggs, also reflected on past discussions about her body. She recalled talking about her BBL in 2022 and warned fans about the dangers of the procedure. She also revealed that 95 percent of previously injected material had been dissolved, underscoring the evolving nature of cosmetic work and personal boundaries around it.
Cardi B also addressed rumors about her personal life. "There’s a rumor that my boyfriend dumped me because my BBL stink," she said, denying the claim and adding that she and Diggs are doing well. She asserted that she is particular about how she smells and dismissed the notion that her relationship was affected by cosmetic procedures.
The podcast episode arrived amid a busy period for Cardi B. She has been promoting her second studio album, Am I the Drama?, which dropped on Sept. 19. The following day, she appeared in Long Beach at a Fingerprints Music meet-and-greet, wearing a white graphic T-shirt, snakeskin boots and a camo-print cap, while showcasing her pregnancy glow and signature style.
Her appearance also comes as she previously faced public scrutiny surrounding a separate legal matter from August, when she testified in a civil case after a security guard sued her for $24 million in a fingernail attack. Cardi B was later cleared of the assault and battery charges in that civil lawsuit, according to notes from her public activities.
The conversation on Call Her Daddy highlighted the broader conversation in pop culture about body image, medical procedures, and personal autonomy. Cardi B stressed the importance of not letting others dictate choices about one’s body and urged listeners not to let outside comments drive one to act against their wishes. She said that, regardless of public commentary, she has learned to live with her body and focus on her music and family.
The interview and the subsequent public appearances underscore Cardi B’s ongoing influence in culture and entertainment, where personal storytelling and candid discussion about cosmetic procedures increasingly intersect with artistic work and fan engagement.
