Claudia Winkleman snaps up a Cotswolds castle, joins celeb set

Claudia Winkleman has snapped up a historic manor in the Cotswolds, described by close associates as her own castle, a property valued at around £3 million. The Traitors presenter has quietly joined a well-known celebrity enclave that already includes film director Guy Ritchie, the Beckhams and Jeremy Clarkson.

A friend said the couple have a long-term rental on the house and moved in about three years ago to enjoy holidays and weekends away from London. Winkleman, 53, is married to Danish film producer Kris Thykier, whose close friendship with Ritchie stretches back years; the two have been known to host shooting parties at Ritchie’s Ashcombe Park estate in the Cotswolds. Ritchie bought that property when he was married to Madonna, and Thykier has worked on several projects connected to the circle surrounding their country home.

Claudia and Kris Thykier, a Danish film producer, are part of a social network that includes prominent figures in film and sport. The couple are thought to enjoy shooting parties at the Ashcombe Park estate, and Winkleman’s move furthers her ties to the area with weekend getaways and holidays away from the capital. In addition to her social life, Winkleman is busy with television work.

On screen, Winkleman is set to remain a fixture this year, appearing weekly on Strictly Come Dancing through December. From October 8 she will also be seen on the BBC in The Celebrity Traitors, a program that features Alan Carr and Stephen Fry.

Away from the screen, Winkleman recently left the talent agency YMU and is now represented by Little Arrow, a firm launched by her husband Kris Thykier and her former agent Holly Bott. Thykier continues to work actively in film; his latest project, Is This Thing On?, starring Bradley Cooper, is scheduled to premiere on October 10 at the New York Film Festival. He has previously produced titles such as Kick-Ass, Operation Mincemeat and Luther: The Fallen Sun.

The Winkles, who raised their three children Jake (22), Matilda (19) and Arthur (14) in London near Marble Arch, are among a cohort of high-profile couples who have a long-standing presence in the city’s media and entertainment circles. Claudia’s career mix of television, film and production has helped sustain her status as a leading figure in British culture and entertainment.
