Dark ending unfolds in Netflix thriller The Guest

Netflix's Colombian psychological thriller The Guest (La Huésped) closes its 20-episode arc with a fatal confrontation that exposes the depth of Sonia's manipulation and tests the family's bonds. The finale reveals Sonia, whose real name is Rocío, has long harbored an obsession with Lorenzo dating back to childhood and uses Silvia to infiltrate the household, surveil its members, and steer events toward her own ends. Across the series she installs cameras, poisons Silvia's therapist, and engineers crises to keep the family off balance while maintaining the appearance of stability in a quiet home.

Isabela's accident marks a turning point. While driving, she hits a man who falls into a coma, triggering a police investigation that tightens the squeeze on Lorenzo, Silvia, and Isabela. Days later, Matis—an ally Sonia presents as a helper—demands a large sum to keep the incident quiet. Desperation pushes Isabela to steal one of Sonia's jewels, a step that Lorenzo tries to broker through Sonia's help. When Matis grows unpredictable, Sonia and a non-existent ally named Libardo orchestrate his death to protect the family. Isabela endures another opioid overdose and is sent to a rehabilitation clinic, where she remains a target as Pepe, Sonia's brother, abducts her and returns her to Sonia, keeping her central to the turmoil.

The final confrontation escalates quickly. Sonia traps Silvia and Isabela inside the house and sets it on fire, threatening their lives as flames close in. Silvia learns she has been slowly poisoned, a revelation that exposes the full scale of Sonia's calculated plan. Lorenzo incapacitates Pepe, Sonia's principal ally, before confronting Sonia herself. In a confrontation colored by delusions, Sonia insists Libardo is accusing her of betrayal, forcing Lorenzo to grapple with her accusations, guilt, and manipulation. He disarms her and shoots, ending the threat and ensuring his family survives the immediate danger.

With Sonia dead, the family survives the blaze but pays a heavy price. Lorenzo must live with the fallout from his infidelity and the manipulation that stretched across months; Silvia bears the trauma of poisoning and manipulation; Isabela carries the weight of the accident, the blackmail, and her ongoing addiction, though she does not face criminal consequences. The finale makes clear the external threat is gone, but emotional and legal conflicts linger. In the closing moments, the family appears united, signaling a fragile but real chance to confront the aftermath together, even as the road ahead remains uncertain.
