Eurostar's snow train returns for winter to the French Alps
Direct London-to-Alps service aims to ease ski-season transfers

Eurostar's snow train will return this week for the winter season, offering skiers a direct rail link from London to the French Alps aboard a service that travels to Bourg-Saint-Maurice with a connection at Lille Europe. The route stops at Chambery, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-La-Plagne, Landry and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
The Bourg-Saint-Maurice service runs December 20, 2025 to March 28, 2026, with outward departures from London on Saturdays at 9:01 a.m. The return journey runs December 27, 2025 to April 4, 2026, with trains leaving Saturdays at 1:45 p.m. or Sundays at 10:54 a.m. A single ticket to Bourg-Saint-Maurice starts from £250 on Saturday, December 27.
Skiers and snowboarders can avoid bulky transfers, as Eurostar says there is plenty of space for bigger bags on board. Passengers may bring two pieces of luggage up to 85 cm, plus one piece of hand luggage, skis and/or a snowboard. Onboard amenities include charging for devices and Wi‑Fi, with food available at the Eurostar Café or served at seat if the Eurostar Plus option is booked.
Arrivals at Bourg-Saint-Maurice are met by coaches ready to whisk travelers to their chosen resort, while those heading to Chambery, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-La-Plagne or Landry are expected to make a comparatively quick transfer or 'speedy stop' at the station. The journey to Bourg-Saint-Maurice takes just under eight hours, with the return leg around nine hours.
The Snow Train launch forms part of a broader Eurostar expansion announced in October, which includes an order for up to 50 two-storey trains for London St Pancras routes to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam through the Channel Tunnel. The €2 billion investment aims to raise capacity and introduce the first double-decker fleet in the UK. The fully electric trains will be named Eurostar Celestia, a nod to caelestis, meaning 'heavenly'. Prices are correct as of December 17, 2025.
