Glastonbury Festival confirms 2027 dates after fallow year

Glastonbury Festival has confirmed its 2027 dates, with the event set to run from June 23 to June 27 at Worthy Farm in Somerset. organizers said the return will come after a planned fallow year in 2026, during which time the land will be left to recover and the natural environment to regenerate.
The festival’s organizers have previously signaled that 2026 would be designated a fallow year to allow the site and surrounding countryside to rest, a step they say is crucial for sustainability. The last official fallow year occurred in 2018, and the festival was forced to cancel the 2020 and 2021 editions because of the coronavirus pandemic. Co-organiser Emily Eavis has emphasized the environmental rationale behind the break, noting that the fallow year gives the land a rest and the cows a longer period on the pasture.
No official ticket details are expected to be released until mid-2026, with the festival’s lineup and headliners to be announced in early 2027. In a complementary move, festival organizers are running a prize draw for the first 25 tickets for the 2027 event, with proceeds to Doctors Without Borders (MSF UK). The draw is currently open and closes on 7 November this year.
Emily Eavis underscored the broader purpose behind the fallow year, saying: "The fallow year is important because it gives the land a rest, it gives the cows a chance to be out for longer and reclaim their land." She added that sustainability and harmony with the land have always been vital to Glastonbury Festival, a line that reflects the event’s ongoing commitment to ecological balance and community impact.
The 2027 edition will mark the festival’s return after a period of disruption that also included the pandemic-driven cancellations in 2020 and 2021. While 2026 is reserved for environmental recuperation, organizers have reiterated their intention to publish ticketing details later, with an emphasis on gradual, controlled access and a phased release of information about the lineup and headliners in early 2027.
