Harris Dickinson weighs in on Bond rumors, hints he knows next 007
Actor addresses speculation and teases knowledge of who will play James Bond amid evolving reboot plans

Harris Dickinson addressed ongoing speculation that he could be the next James Bond, saying the next film won’t start for a bit and noting that he enjoys a martini. The 29-year-old actor has long been listed among frontrunners to succeed Daniel Craig after No Time To Die in 2021.
Dickinson’s remarks come as bookmakers’ lists have included the Babygirl star alongside Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James and Callum Turner. His casting as John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ upcoming quartet of Beatles biopics has further fed talk about his Bond odds. In a Sunday Times interview, Dickinson teased that he knows who will play the titular spy but refused to reveal names, saying, "I can’t say, obviously," and adding with a wink: "It’s Michael Caine." The comments arrive as a broader reboot of the Bond universe gathers momentum, with Amazon MGM Studios involved and Denis Villeneuve tapped to direct the untitled film.
In the same interview, Dickinson appeared to drop a clue about a co-star who had previously humiliated him on set by playing a guessing game that mocked his working-class roots. He had first described the incident in a 2023 Times interview, recalling that the co-star used stereotypes to belittle him. Dickinson stopped short of naming the actor, saying he wouldn’t reveal who it was and later hinted that he had been caught by readers trying to connect him to the person.
Media coverage has also highlighted the plan for a straight reboot of the Bond series, with reports that there will be no retroactive explanation of how Bond survived past adventures and no attempt to return to a vintage 1960s vibe. The Daily Mail cited Amazon’s ongoing efforts to set a fresh direction for the franchise after its $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM three years ago. Denis Villeneuve has signed on to direct the untitled film, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman among the producers. While officials have not issued a firm release date, insiders have suggested a window around 2027 as a potential target. The move marks a continuation of the studio’s strategy to reboot the character for a new generation while honoring the franchise’s legacy.
