Harrison Ford to receive SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award

Harrison Ford will receive a lifetime achievement award from SAG-AFTRA in March, the union announced Thursday. He will accept the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award at the 32nd SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards, to be streamed live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.

"Harrison Ford is a singular presence in American life; an actor whose iconic characters have shaped world culture," SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin said in a statement. "We are honored to celebrate a legend whose impact on our craft is indelible."

Ford, 83, has a career spanning six decades and includes some of the most recognizable characters in modern cinema. He rose to global stardom as Han Solo in the 1977 film Star Wars, reprising the role in several installments as the franchise expanded. As the adventurer archaeologist Indiana Jones, he launched another blockbuster series in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark. He also played Rick Deckard in Blade Runner, and has a wide range of television roles.

Through the years, Ford has earned numerous accolades, including the Critics Choice Career Achievement Award (2024), the Golden Globes Cecil B. DeMille Award (2002), and the AFI Life Achievement Award (2000), among others. "I am deeply honored to be chosen as this year's recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award," he said in the statement. "To be acknowledged by my fellow actors means a great deal to me. I’ve spent most of my life on film sets, working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I’ve always felt grateful to be part of this community."

The SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award honors an actor who demonstrates the finest ideals of the acting profession and recognizes the recipient's broader humanitarian and environmental work. The award reflects SAG-AFTRA's view of acting as a public service that extends beyond the screen or stage.
