Harrison Ford to receive SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award in March
Ford to be honored March 1 at SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards; ceremony streamed on Netflix
Harrison Ford will receive the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award in March, the Screen Actors Guild‑American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced Thursday. Ford is set to accept the honor on March 1 during the 32nd SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards, which will be streamed live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.
“Harrison Ford is a singular presence in American life; an actor whose iconic characters have shaped world culture,” SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin said in a statement. “We are honored to celebrate a legend whose impact on our craft is indelible.” The life achievement accolade also recognizes work on humanitarian and environmental causes.
Ford, 83, has spent six decades in film and television and remains a global star for his roles across several enduring franchises. He became a household name as Han Solo in the 1977 Star Wars film, reprising that character in multiple installments as the franchise grew. As Indiana Jones, he launched another blockbuster series with Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. He also played Rick Deckard in the Blade Runner films and has appeared in a broad slate of television projects.
Beyond his on-screen work, Ford has earned numerous honors. He received the Critics Choice Career Achievement Award in 2024, the Golden Globes Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2002, and the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2000, among others. “I am deeply honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award,” he said in the statement. “To be acknowledged by my fellow actors means a great deal to me. I’ve spent most of my life on film sets, working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I’ve always felt grateful to be part of this community.”
The SAG-AFTRA life achievement accolade honors an actor who demonstrates the finest ideals of the acting profession and recognizes his or her work in humanitarian and environmental causes, the union said. The March ceremony will be the 32nd edition of the Actor Awards, and the Netflix telecast will bring Ford’s career to a broad, global audience as he steps into the latest milestone of a storied career.
