James Brolin Gives Rare Update on Barbra Streisand at Santa Monica Cult Classic Screening

James Brolin offered a rare public update on Barbra Streisand during a private screening of his 1980s cult classic Night of the Juggler in Santa Monica. The event, held at the Aero Theater, drew fans who mingled with the actor as he wore a British-style safari jacket and signed autographs. Streisand did not appear at the screening, though she posted publicly in support of her husband afterward.

Brolin told Daily Mail on Sept. 4 that Streisand is in what he described as fine health, saying, "She's alright, she's laying back." He added that Streisand is in "perfect" health and remains vigilant about her workouts, noting, "Nobody works out more than she does. Love is the best medicine." The couple have kept a relatively low profile since Streisand released The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, with the singer spending downtime at their Malibu home and tending to her pets and gardens. In June, Streisand told Variety that she considers herself "very lazy" and does not relish heavy commitments, consistent with the way she has balanced work and leisure in recent years.

The private screening and Brolin's remarks come as Streisand has temperamentally shifted toward a quieter public life, though she has continued to support her husband publicly. On Instagram, Streisand praised Brolin’s performance in Night of the Juggler, writing, "Last night they showed a special screening of a movie my husband made years ago called 'Night of the Juggler' and it's coming to Blu-ray and DVD later this month. 'It's so good, it could have been made today (!) - my husband is so fantastic in it. Don't miss it.'"

Streisand, a longtime icon in music and film, has continued to pursue projects including a documentary about her life in development, while maintaining a more private profile in recent years. The couple have been together since their July 1, 1998, wedding in Los Angeles, an event that has been widely chronicled as the start of a long marriage built on mutual support and shared experiences in the entertainment industry.
