Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo reveal twist of fate that led to dream London home just in time for first child

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have detailed a twist of fate that led them to their dream London home after four years of searching. The former Made in Chelsea couple, who are expecting their first child, unveiled the property on Thursday after a 14-month renovation.

Speaking with The Standard, the couple described how an article about their ongoing house hunt was read by the former owner's grandmother. She contacted her grandson to say she had identified the perfect buyers for his property, and the couple scheduled a viewing later that day. Sophie instantly loved the house, and insisted they make an offer, with Jamie later agreeing. The estate is rumored to be worth about £12 million.

Inside, a 14-month renovation transformed an empty shell into a split-level, open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. Highlights include a massive marble kitchen island, a stainless steel American-style fridge-freezer, four skylights, warm wood panelling, and curved arched door frames with a pantry off the kitchen. The living area sits on a raised level to create a sense of separation between zones.

Habboo has said the kitchen was the most important room, emphasizing that a large, functional kitchen with an island is the heart of the home. Laing has a soft spot for the cinema, a space he described as his dream when he was growing up, complete with a striped carpet, high-end speakers and a bar stocked with jars of Candy Kittens, his confectionary brand. The couple, however, joked that the cinema was a compromise: Jamie had initially wanted a golf simulator in the basement, and Sophie persuaded him that a cinema suited the space better.

The couple's relationship timeline has been public since they met as friends in 2019, later becoming romantically involved, getting engaged in 2021, and marrying in a Spanish ceremony in 2023. In June, Sophie announced she is pregnant with their first child, and the couple renamed their podcast Newlyweds to NearlyParents to reflect their impending parenthood.

Thursday's reveal marks a milestone as they settle into the home ahead of the baby's arrival. After years in the public eye, the couple's new abode signals a new chapter as they balance careers and family life.
