Janice Dickinson sues ITV over I'm a Celebrity accident, claiming head and facial injuries

Janice Dickinson, the US model and television personality, is suing ITV in the High Court over injuries she sustained during I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in South Africa. Court documents filed on Sept. 19 by celebrity-law firm Taylor Hampton list the action as a personal injury claim against ITV and the show's producers.

The claim centers on Dickinson's fall in October 2022 during filming in the jungle camp, when she tripped in darkness while trying to locate the toilet at night. She suffered head and facial injuries, including a cut chin, a bloody nose and a forehead indentation.

Campmates Fatima Whitbread and Phil Tuffnell found her and helped her back to the campsite. She was taken to the medical hut and later transported by ambulance to a small hospital in the middle of nowhere. Her husband, Robert Gerner, who was in South Africa at the time, was contacted.

Dickinson later said ITV paid for her medical bills after she returned to Los Angeles, where she underwent dermatological treatment, including laser therapy, to aid healing. She described the experience as a freak accident and noted that the production team ultimately decided she could not return to the camp; she has said she would have liked to come back, but acknowledged the decision as the right one.

The model, who was 70 at the time of the incident, left the South Africa edition of the show in 2023 due to the injuries. The documents filed for the High Court action list the case as a personal injury claim and seek damages from ITV and the program's producers.

The Mirror reported the filing, and the case adds to a broader conversation about safety on high-profile reality programs. ITV has not publicly commented on the lawsuit as of the latest update.
