Jon Gosselin reacts to claim Kate Gosselin is dating the man linked to their marriage
Collin Gosselin backs his father’s account as reports surface that Kate Gosselin is dating former bodyguard Steve Neild.

Jon Gosselin publicly reacted Wednesday to a report that his ex-wife Kate Gosselin is dating Steve Neild, the bodyguard long tied to their 2009 divorce. In an Instagram post that included a link to a Page Six story, Jon suggested the relationship may be a rekindling rather than a new romance, writing, 'Guess who really ruined the marriage' and 'Read for yourself.'
Neild, now 50, was the onetime bodyguard who accompanied the couple during their peak on the reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8. The Daily Mail reported the dating speculation, and Jon's message echoed earlier claims he has made in the media. Kate and Jon wed in 1999 and share eight children — twins Madelyn and Cara and sextuplets Aaden, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Collin and Joel — born via in vitro fertilization. Their divorce was finalized in 2009, and TLC later recast the show as Kate +8, which ran for six more seasons before ending in 2017.
Jon said in a 2025 interview with E! News that he hadn’t spoken with his ex-wife Kate in around seven years. 'We don’t communicate,' he said. 'I think the last time I heard her voice in person was, like, 2018.' Last month, Kate shared sentiments on parenting in a TikTok post, saying, 'I don’t know if you have kids or don’t have kids, but I just, I made decisions based on how I would want to be treated, honestly. And I didn’t buy into all the drama and the hate, and the ugly. And I had kids involved, so I wanted it to be as peaceful for them as I possibly could.'
Collin, now 21, weighed in on Instagram Stories, saying, 'What really upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard way back in 2009, and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in a connected room!' He also said, 'Now everyone thinks her being with him is some cute novel romance.' Collin later added that he wasn't trying to stir the pot, writing, 'I’m not big on drama, and I’m very busy in college, at work, and running my business, so don’t think I feed on this.' He concluded, 'However, I feel very strongly on the matter of cheating and then blaming someone else for your own actions. So no we won’t just go and make TikTok’s and act reformed when we still feel pain from our past.'
The former couple and their family were a TV sensation with the 2007–2009 series Jon & Kate Plus 8. They wed in 1999 and welcomed twins Madelyn and Cara, followed by the sextuplets Aaden, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Collin and Joel, who were all born through in vitro fertilization. Their divorce was finalized in 2009. In the wake of the split, TLC recast the show as Kate +8, and six more seasons aired before it ended in 2017. Jon has since described a distance from Kate, saying he and his ex-wife do not maintain a relationship.
