Kathy Griffin shows off third facelift at LA book signing

Kathy Griffin, 64, is showing the results of her third facelift as she appeared at a book signing over the weekend at The Grove’s Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles. The Emmy-winning comedian was promoting Liz Flynt’s Hustler: 50 Years of Freedom, a coffee-table book that traces the magazine’s history from its 1970s origins. Griffin arrived in a casual-but-glam look, pairing a white button-down shirt with a black bomber jacket and wide-leg cropped jeans, and her fiery red hair was styled in bouncy curls with bold makeup that highlighted her features.

Griffin confirmed she underwent a third facelift along with an upper blepharoplasty featuring a cat-eye stitch. She has discussed the procedure publicly in recent weeks, including a YouTube update posted in early August in which she said she now has a new face and that this is her third facelift. She attributed the decision to the work of Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei, noting that he also did the eye lift for singer Sia, whose before-and-after photos Griffin cited as inspiration.

In interviews and on her Talk Your Head Off podcast, Griffin has described the experience, noting that the surgery included a chin stitch and stressing that recovery can be painful. She has been candid about the realities of undergoing cosmetic work, emphasizing that the aim is confidence and self-expression rather than vanity. Griffin has also discussed the emotional and physical challenges of recovery, recounting visits to a so-called recovery facility and the days when drains and post-surgical discomfort were part of the process.

The remarks come as Griffin has long addressed ageism in the entertainment industry. She has described in past interviews how age-related assumptions have affected opportunities and has continued to speak about maintaining a career while aging in a field that often prioritizes youth. A 2016 interview with Deadline highlighted her stance on these issues and her ongoing willingness to reinvent herself while staying true to her stand-up roots.

Griffin’s public narrative also intersects with her health history. She previously disclosed a cancer battle that led to the removal of half of her left lung in 2021, a health challenge she has spoken about publicly as part of her broader conversation on resilience, aging, and the pressures of fame. In the wake of the latest procedure, she has described a rapid recovery process and a renewed sense of energy for performing and engaging with audiences.

With the book signing drawing attention to both a major Hollywood moment and a frank conversation about cosmetic work, Griffin’s appearance and remarks fit within her broader pattern of publicly reexamining age, image, and the evolving standards of beauty in culture and entertainment.
