Keanu Reeves Denies Secret Marriage Rumors Ahead of Broadway Debut in Waiting for Godot

Keanu Reeves was photographed on a morning stroll through Manhattan on Monday, the day before previews begin for his Broadway debut in Waiting for Godot. The 61-year-old actor appeared relaxed in a thin olive-green jacket over a black V-neck shirt, distressed brown corduroy pants and worn brown boots, with a salt-and-pepper beard. He wore a red ARCH Motorcycle cap and carried a bright orange reusable bag while focused on his phone, a casual, off-duty look that contrasted with the production’s high-profile anticipation.

Keanu’s casual sighting came amid tabloid chatter and online speculation about his personal life, including rumors of a secret marriage to Alexandra Grant. The whispers would soon be answered by his representation, which would publicly dispute the reports.

Reeves’ publicist told E! News on Monday that reports of a secret wedding are not true, saying, “They are not married.” The longtime partner of Reeves, Grant is an artist who has collaborated with him on publishing and book projects. The couple has been publicly linked for years, with Reeves describing Grant as his partner and calling her “honey.”

The two met at a 2009 dinner party and later launched the publishing imprint X Artists’ Books in 2017, a project they pursued together alongside Jessica Fleischmann. Reeves and Grant began dating in 2018, years after their initial professional collaboration. Their relationship has been widely reported in coverage of Reeves’s personal life, though he has kept details relatively private by Hollywood standards.

Waiting for Godot marks Reeves’s Broadway debut, in Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Samuel Beckett’s surrealist tragicomedy. He plays Estragon, with Alex Winter co-starring as Vladimir. The production is staged at the Hudson Theatre in Manhattan, with previews starting this week and a run through January 4, 2026. The cast also includes Winter, who previously worked with Reeves in the Bill & Ted films, returning to the stage to share the pair’s iconic dynamic.

Addressing the physical demands of the role, Reeves told the New York Times that the part requires stamina and improvisational focus, noting that he has been thinking about how to manage the show’s intensity, including ways to refresh between performances, such as a cold plunge.

Beyond the stage, Reeves has a slate of film projects in development. He is set to portray the angel Gabriel in Aziz Ansari’s Good Fortune, due in theaters October 17, alongside a cast that includes Seth Rogen and Sandra Oh. He is also linked to Francis Lawrence’s long-delayed Constantine sequel, Jon Hamm’s black comedy Outcome (for Apple TV+), and Ruben Östlund’s satirical film The Entertainment System Is Down, among other projects.

As Waiting for Godot moves through previews toward a formal opening, Reeves’s public life remains a subject of broad public interest, though the actor has continued to emphasize the balance between personal privacy and professional commitment as he takes on one of theater’s most enduring roles.
