Makena White, girlfriend of PGA Tour winner Jake Knapp, dies at 28; last post reveals heartbreak

Makena White, 28, died earlier this week, a friend announced on social media Friday, with no cause of death disclosed. White had been dating PGA Tour winner Jake Knapp for about two years, and the couple went public after Knapp’s Mexico Open victory last year.

In her final Instagram post, White posted a tribute to their relationship dated Aug. 11, writing, "Year 2 of first fairway hugs & watching you live out your dreams," and she added, "Second season in the books — forever grateful to be on this walk with you, here’s to many many many more! I looooove you sweet boy, you make it so dang easy to be proud."

Knapp, a United States golfer who won the Mexico Open last year, and White had publicly acknowledged their relationship about two years into dating. Knapp has not commented publicly on White's death.
