Marvel Zombies Season 2: Blueprint in Place, but Renewal Hinges on Disney+ Subscriptions

Marvel Zombies hit Disney+ two days ago, and fans are already asking for more. The four‑part series unfolds after the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague and features a star-studded voice cast, including Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Iman Vellani, Simu Liu, David Harbour, and Paul Rudd. The show follows a desperate group of survivors who must fend off a broader zombie takeover to save what remains of the world.

Disney+ is home to four episodes, each about 32 to 38 minutes long. While a Season 2 has not been officially greenlit, Marvel Studios executives and the series’ creative team say they have a ready blueprint. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television and animation, urged fans to subscribe and watch the show, noting that renewed interest could prompt more adventures: 'If that happens, they will get more.' Series director Bryan Andrews told Variety there is ample material to mine for a second season and teased 'insanity that's just waiting around the corner' if a renewal comes.

Critical readers have noted the show feels tailored to fans of the MCU and the zombie‑apocalypse genre. Decider critic Maddy Casale wrote that Marvel Zombies was created specifically for that audience and may not be as accessible to viewers outside it. Ending explained: The finale features a battle that sees the Scarlet Witch, played by Olsen, attempting to recruit Kamala Khan, only for Kamala to wake up at home in New Jersey; IGN says the moment reveals an altered reality in which zombies still roam. Director Andrews acknowledged the ending's bleak tone and said the team deliberate about how much to reveal: 'We knew it would be bleak; the question was how much to show. We leaned toward a gut punch without tipping into an overdone cliffhanger.'

Despite the questions about renewal, the creators emphasized that the door remains open. Winderbaum’s comments underscore that subscriber momentum on Disney+ could decide whether Marvel Zombies returns; the team has a blueprint, and producers have ideas for new chapters if Disney greenlights a Season 2. For now, Disney+ viewers can revisit the four existing episodes while fans await an official renewal decision.
