Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are heading to New York City next month to accept a humanitarian honor tied to their mental health advocacy, according to multiple outlets. They are set to receive Project Healthy Minds’ Humanitarians of the Year Award in recognition of campaigns aimed at making the online world safer for families and young people. The award will be presented at the nonprofit organization’s World Mental Health Day Gala on October 9, with the couple planning to appear at a related engagement the following day.

The couple’s schedule in New York centers on Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day events. On October 9, they are expected to attend the gala where the award will be conferred. On October 10, Meghan and Harry will participate in the fourth annual World Mental Health Day Festival, with their Archewell Foundation co-producing conversations with leaders and contributors in the mental health sector.

In a statement provided to People magazine, Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, said: “Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives. As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them. We’re proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as we work together to shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.” The couple launched The Archewell Foundation in 2020 and unveiled The Parents’ Network in 2024 as part of their online-safety initiatives.

The New York engagement follows a string of recent public appearances for the couple, including a surprise joint appearance at Kevin Costner’s star-studded event in Santa Barbara over the weekend. At that outing, Meghan appeared to wear a diamond ring that had not been publicly seen before. Reports describe the piece as a pear-shaped gemstone set in 14k gold with a pavé diamond halo, weighing about 0.25 carats total, and sourced from Logan Hollowell. The item is described as a ‘Queen’ Water Drop Moonstone Ring, available in yellow, rose, or white gold, and is believed by some observers to be a birthday gift in honor of Meghan’s 44th birthday on August 4. The moonstone is associated with the moon and has been linked in some narratives to the late Princess Diana, though no official confirmation has been provided.

Logan Hollowell, the designer behind the piece, emphasizes that the brand uses recycled precious metals and ethically sourced gemstones, with artisan goldsmiths crafting each piece in Los Angeles. Meghan has previously been seen wearing items from the brand in other appearances, including a matching necklace during the second series of her show With Love. In December, she attended the Paley Honors Gala wearing a high-value diamond necklace from a different jeweler to support a close friend of the couple.

As the US tour unfolds, royal watchers will be watching for further details on the New York appearances and any updates to the couple’s ongoing initiatives through The Archewell Foundation and The Parents’ Network. The Daily Mail reported the New York plan and the awards announcement, noting the couple’s continued emphasis on family safety online and mental health advocacy as central to their public work.
