Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to NYC for World Mental Health Day Gala and Humanitarians of the Year Award
Duke and Duchess of Sussex to receive Project Healthy Minds honor in New York, with Archewell Foundation co-producing World Mental Health Day events Oct. 9–10

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will travel to New York City next month to accept Project Healthy Minds' Humanitarians of the Year Award for their mental health advocacy, PEOPLE magazine reports. The award recognizes campaigns to make the online world safer for families and young people, and the couple is set to receive it at the nonprofit's World Mental Health Day Gala on Oct. 9, before appearing at another event the following day.
On Oct. 10, the Montecito-based couple will attend Project Healthy Minds' fourth annual World Mental Health Day Festival, where their Archewell Foundation is co-producing conversations with leaders and researchers working to advance mental health services and awareness. In a message to People, Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, said that working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been among the most meaningful work of their lives and that they are honored to support the cause. They added they are proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as they shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.
People notes that the couple launched Archewell Foundation in 2020 and in 2024 rolled out The Parents' Network, an initiative aimed at tackling child safety online.
The weekend's public appearances also drew attention to the couple's ongoing philanthropic profile. They recently attended Kevin Costner's star-studded gathering in Santa Barbara, and Meghan wore a pear-shaped moonstone ring by Logan Hollowell that fans described as a potential birthday gift from Harry.
In New York, the events will also reflect a broader arc in the couple's public work. Earlier this year they spoke at the Time100 Summit in New York, and their participation in this Project Healthy Minds programming adds to a coordinated effort to spotlight mental health and family well-being.
