Meghan Markle offers rare peek inside Montecito mansion with Hermès decor

Meghan Markle gave a rare glimpse inside her Montecito mansion on Friday, posting an Instagram Story that shows the couple’s polished living room and their beagle Mamma Mia snoozing on a white bouclé chair. The clip centers on Hermès decor, a neutral pillow, a sheepskin-style throw and a brown-and-cream Hermès blanket, with a sleek black side table nearby holding a wildflower arrangement in a white stone vase that bears the logo of Markle’s As Ever lifestyle brand.

In the caption, Markle noted the bouquet included garden roses and Queen Anne’s lace and she wrote, "Looking lovely, ladies." The living room features dark-brown wood floors and French doors that open to a patio overlooking the garden, with birds chirping and a light jazz tune in the background.

The Instagram peek comes as Markle and Prince Harry, who bought the Montecito property in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, continue to keep interiors private. The couple have long avoided filming inside the home; Netflix used a separate California residence for Meghan & Harry’s docuseries, and Markle’s cooking show is shot on a set rather than at the couple’s house.

The home’s known features include nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a pool, a tennis court, a tea house, a rose garden, century-old olive trees, a two-bedroom guest house and a children’s cottage, according to property listings and interviews.

Inside the home, past glimpses have appeared in other projects. A 2021 promo for Markle’s 40×40 initiative showed a home office with a handcrafted pine dining table from Pottery Barn serving as a desk, and a separate parlor with contemporary art, a coffee-table book collection and a Diptyque candle. The couple have kept the rest of the interiors largely out of view, reinforcing their private stance about the estate.

The Friday post marks a rare, direct look at the interior of a home that Markle and Harry have repeatedly guarded from public view. The couple reside in the estate with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and they continue to balance private life with public projects from afar.
