Nicolas Cage allegedly tossed Lisa Marie Presley’s $65,000 engagement ring overboard in yacht row, memoir claims

Nicolas Cage allegedly threw Lisa Marie Presley’s six-carat, $65,000 engagement ring into the Pacific Ocean during a heated boat trip off Southern California, according to Priscilla Presley in a memoir released this week. In Softly, As I Leave You: Live After Elvis, Presley describes the incident as part of a pattern of volatile moments between the couple early in their relationship.

Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie's mother, recounts that the fight took place aboard Cage's yacht, the Weston, as they sailed off Catalina Island. "One afternoon, they went sailing off the coast of Catalina Island on Nick's yacht, the Weston," she writes. "Something set off another of their epic fights, and Lisa pulled off her engagement ring and threw it at Nick." Cage then had divers attempt to retrieve the ring, Presley says, but she believed it was never recovered.

Presley says Cage later replaced the ring with an even bigger diamond — about ten carats — and the couple became engaged again, according to the memoir.

The romance between Cage and Presley began in 2000 and included a marriage in 2002. Their divorce was finalized in 2004, ending a relationship that had both high-profile moments and financial pressures, as described by Presley in the book.

Lisa Marie Presley died in January 2023 at the age of 54. The newly disclosed anecdotes form part of a broader narrative in which Presley portrays the relationship as tumultuous, though she does not necessarily imply fault on either side.

Representatives for Cage did not immediately respond to requests for comment transmitted through the Daily Mail.
