Patti Smith to tour Horses 50th anniversary in U.S. this fall
Punk poet laureate revisits her 1975 debut with full album performances, including two Beacon Theatre nights in New York

Patti Smith will launch the U.S. leg of her Horses 50th Anniversary Tour this fall, a multi-city run that marks the 50th anniversary of her 1975 debut Horses. The trek opens Nov. 10 at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle and includes 13 North American and United Kingdom dates, with a pair of Beacon Theatre performances in New York on Nov. 21 and 22.
Smith plans to perform the eight tracks of Horses in full for the first time since 2005, backed by guitarist Lenny Kaye and drummer Jay Dee Daugherty, who were integral to the album. Additional band members, including guitarist Jackson Smith and Tony Shanahan, will join on the tour. Rehearsals are underway at Electric Lady Studios, where Smith posted that she is practicing with the fellows for Horses 50th in the place they recorded it.
Ticket prices for the U.S. shows vary widely. At publication, the lowest price found for any U.S. date was $57, including fees, on Vivid Seats. Other American stops have tickets in the roughly $62 to $400 range, depending on venue and date. The full itinerary covers 13 North American and United Kingdom shows, with the Beacon Theatre in New York hosting the two New York dates near the tour's end. Prices shown in listings reflect that the market for Smith’s live return remains highly dynamic and subject to change at any time.
Outside the U.S., the calendar opens with London dates at the London Palladium in October, with tickets listed around $289 to $482 including fees. The U.S. run features stops in Seattle, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Washington and Philadelphia, among others.
No word yet on whether Smith will include other beloved songs such as Because the Night, Dancing Barefoot, People Have the Power or her 2011 cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit on stage, leaving the final set list to performance day choices. The plan currently centers on Horses in full, performed by a trio with Kaye and Daugherty on the core of the arrangement.
Smith, a New Jersey native who became a defining figure in New York City's 1970s punk and avant-rock scene, was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2007. Earlier this year Carnegie Hall staged People Have the Power: A Celebration of Patti Smith, a star-studded tribute that featured Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Depp and many others. The lineup offered a snapshot of her influence across generations of musicians, poets and artists.
Industry watchers note that 2025 has seen several other artists with similar sensibilities on tour, including Heart with Lucinda Williams on select dates, Stevie Nicks, DEVO with The B-52s, Elvis Costello and Robert Plant, among others. The landscape for classic-rock and art-rock touring continues to be active as artists mark anniversaries and anniversaries of landmark albums.
