Pierce Brosnan shuts down interview question about James Bond Christmas, hints at future 007 work
Former Bond star declines to speculate on Bond’s holiday plans, shares his own Christmas plans, and comments on the ongoing search for the next 007.

Pierce Brosnan shut down a question about whether James Bond would enjoy Christmas during an interview with The Times, published Friday. The actor, who played Bond in four films from GoldenEye (1995) to Die Another Day (2002), declined to speculate on Bond’s holiday plans, saying he would not answer the question. He suggested he could not or would not discuss Bond’s Christmas plans and pivoted to his own Christmas plans, saying he would spend the holiday at home with his wife at his Hawaii retreat.
During the exchange, Brosnan apologized for the reaction and referenced Bond’s long history, noting that the question about Bond’s Christmas tradition would likely persist. He recalled that Sean Connery took a similar approach to media inquiries, and he added that he is excited to see who will play Bond again, praising past actors including Connery, Moore, Craig and Dalton as having been remarkable. There are many great candidates out there, and he said audiences could expect the casting to be a spectacle of delight as the franchise moves forward.
Brosnan’s Bond era spanned seven years, during which he starred in four films: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002). In the Times interview, he said he hasn’t rewatched the Bond films with any of his sons, explaining that he doesn’t watch the movies and they’ve simply stayed tucked away.
In August, Brosnan confirmed he would consider returning as 007 in the franchise’s next film if Denis Villeneuve directed it. He told the Radio Times that he would look at such an opportunity in a heartbeat and that the project could be entertaining, with possibilities like bald caps and prosthetics. He noted there are many great candidates for the role and predicted the next Bond would be a spectacular event for fans and the franchise alike.
The remarks underscore Brosnan’s ongoing ties to Bond lore while leaving the door open to a future return, even as the actor keeps his personal plans private and focuses on the present.
