Prince William says 2024 was the hardest year of his life
Royal discusses personal challenges with Eugene Levy on Apple TV+'s The Reluctant Traveler

LONDON — Prince William has told Schitt's Creek star Eugene Levy that 2024 was the hardest year of his life, in a preview of an Apple TV+ episode of The Reluctant Traveler provided by the Associated Press. In the clip released ahead of the Oct. 3 air date, William says, 'I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had.' He adds that 'life is said to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.'
The episode features William showing Levy around Windsor Castle and the pair chatting over a pint at a pub. The preview says the show will air Oct. 3 on Apple TV+.
The royal family has faced a challenging year. Kate, the Princess of Wales, said in January that her cancer was in remission and has since taken on more public engagements. Earlier this month she and William helped lead the royal welcome for President Donald Trump during his U.K. state visit. Charles, King since 2022, has also returned to public duties after stepping away for months last year to focus on treatment and recovery. The king and the princess have not disclosed what type of cancer they were treated for.
The interview with Levy is part of The Reluctant Traveler, a project in which the royal participates in a more informal format while touring historic sites and engaging with locals. The palace has not offered further comment on the episode, which is expected to attract attention as the royal family continues public duties amid health challenges.
