Quinta Brunson settles divorce from Kevin Anik after more than three years of marriage
Abbott Elementary creator reaches an uncontested divorce settlement; spousal support arranged as she continues to lead a busy television career.

Quinta Brunson has reached a settlement in her divorce from Kevin Anik, bringing an end to a marriage that lasted just under four years. The Abbott Elementary creator filed for divorce in March, and People magazine reported on Monday that the pair had reached an uncontested agreement.
Court documents show the date of separation as December 1, 2024, a timestamp that was initially listed as undetermined in the couple's first filing. The settlement includes a provision for spousal support and the parties had previously entered into a postnuptial agreement governing the disposition of their property. Brunson and Anik were married in October 2021.
Details of the settlement remain largely private, and no further terms have been disclosed publicly. However, filings indicate that spousal support has been arranged and that the postnuptial agreement stands as the framework for how property will be divided if there are any future changes in circumstances.
Anik has kept a relatively low public profile; he is described as working in the legal cannabis industry in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. By contrast, Brunson has built a nationwide profile as a writer, producer and star. She created Abbott Elementary, has served as its showrunner and is credited as one of the series' principal architects since its 2021 debut on ABC.
Since its premiere, Abbott Elementary has earned multiple awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards. The show was among the nominees for three Emmys earlier this month, including Outstanding Comedy Series, but did not win in those categories.
Brunson, a Temple University graduate who often speaks about her Philadelphia roots, has described how the city informs her work. In a 2021 interview with Good Morning America, she described Philadelphia as a source of diverse energy that informs her storytelling.
The publication date of the notes suggests the settlement has moved to finalization, pending judicial approval. If a judge signs off on the agreement, Brunson and Anik will formally cease to be married, marking the end of a relationship that unfolded in tandem with the rise of her breakout TV project. Brunson has continued to expand her film and television work while maintaining a close connection to the Philadelphia and broader East Coast entertainment communities that helped launch her career.
