Robert Irwin delivers sizzling tango on DWTS US, tipped to win amid 'one hit wonders' theme

Robert Irwin delivered a high-energy tango on Dancing With The Stars US on Tuesday night, performing to the 2002 hit Move Your Feet with partner Witney Carson and earning a standing ovation from the live studio audience. The routine came as the show highlighted a one hit wonders theme.

As the performance opened, Irwin locked eyes with Carson, then launched into a sultry tango. Midway through, the pair broke into retro noughties moves—a robot routine and a hip hop breakdown—that drew laughter from the crowd, including Irwin's mother Terri and his sister Bindi, who were in attendance.

Judges kept the scoring brisk, with 8 from Carrie Ann and 7 from Derek and Bruno for a total of 22 out of 30, which kept Irwin at the top of the leaderboard. Fans flooded the DWTS Instagram page with praise, calling the routine sexy and hot, and many predicted he could win the mirrorball trophy.

Last week Irwin stunned viewers with a vigorous jive to Born to be Wild, a nod to his Crocodile Hunter father. His mother Terri later shared a clip on Instagram of an Access Hollywood appearance in which Irwin said Steve would be proud if he were alive.

Industry observers note that the public response to Irwin on DWTS US could sustain momentum as the season progresses, with bookmakers and fans alike widely betting on his continued ascent to the final.
