Scarlett Johansson Stuns in Balmain LBD on Colbert Show
Curve-hugging Balmain dress, wide Anthem belt, and nearly $60,000 in gold jewelry accompany the star as she promotes Eleanor the Great.
Scarlett Johansson arrived at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in Manhattan on Monday night wearing a curve-hugging Balmain strapless knit midi dress. The black, bodycon LBD featured subtle contour paneling and carried a price tag near $5,000, but it was the belt that defined the silhouette: Balmain’s Anthem wide black leather belt with an oversized gold buckle cinched the waist and helped create a sculpted line as she walked to the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Johansson completed the look with nearly $60,000 worth of Sidney Garber gold jewelry, including a Collana D’Oro necklace and a Rolling bracelet. The ensemble was finished with a classic red lip and a sleek blowout, while the dress’s zippered back revealed Johansson’s back tattoos, including a vine of roses and a lamb, visible to photographers outside the studio.
The styling for the appearance was led by Kate Young, the Hollywood stylist known for working with Julianne Moore and Dakota Johnson. Johansson is in the midst of a busy red-carpet run as she promotes her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, which hits theaters Sept. 26. The film stars June Squibb as Eleanor Morgenstein, a 94-year-old New Yorker who moves in with her daughter after the death of her best friend, a Holocaust survivor. The project is inspired by screenwriter Tory Kamen’s grandmother, and Johansson has dedicated the film to her own Jewish grandmother, Dorothy.
Earlier this month, Johansson stepped out at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere in a pale pink Valentino gown that showed off her collection of back tattoos. The delicate dress was cut low in the back, revealing the trail of roses climbing up ScarJo’s spine and the little lamb under her right shoulder blade.
