Special Forces coach Jason Fox shades Brianna LaPaglia’s attitude on World’s Toughest Test
Fox says Brianna LaPaglia annoyed the coaches with her attitude but later stepped up; Brittany Cartwright exits early in Season 4.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test coach Jason Fox — known as DS Foxy — did not mince words about Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia’s time on the Fox reality series. In an interview with Page Six Radio on Friday, Foxy said LaPaglia’s attitude stood out to the coaching team. “She impressed, definitely, because there was a journey with her. She annoyed us, to put it lightly,” Foxy said, describing what he called a period of metaphorical “head-butting” as authorities clashed. He added, “She’s got attitude. She’s got a lot of attitude. I don’t particularly think she likes authority and we’re there throwing our authority around.” Despite the friction, Foxy noted that LaPaglia ultimately showed resilience, praising her ability to “ramp up” when the moment demanded it and to “step up to the plate.”
LaPaglia later spoke with Page Six about her journey, telling Real and Murphy that she had entered the competition “blind.” Foxy’s assessment of her arc aligned with her own reflections on the show’s demanding environment. He said LaPaglia realized what she needed to do and delivered, even though he acknowledged the early tension with authority figures on set.
LaPaglia has previously explained that she did not binge the season before joining the cast. Pete Dadds has noted that she told Page Six she “hadn’t watched full episodes of the Fox competition series before she joined.” She said she actually arrived from her sister’s bachelorette party and was hungover when she flew to Morocco, where the show’s physical tests begin. She described being immediately thrust into swim training and rope work upon arrival. “I actually came from my sister’s bachelorette party. So, I was hungover when I got there,” she said. “I flew straight to Morocco through the night and I got there [and] immediately had to do swim training, rope training.” She attributed her decision to join the show in part to defying a manager’s assumption that she wouldn’t be able to compete and would not want to accept the offer.
“I had never seen full episodes of the show before. I had only seen clips. So, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. Thank God, because if I had watched it, I wouldn’t have done it.” She reiterated, “I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. Thank God, because if I had watched it, I wouldn’t have done it.”
In the show’s Season 4 premiere, viewers watched Brittany Cartwright — known from The Valley — exit the competition after struggles with the high‑intensity challenges. Cartwright chose to leave herself after difficulty finishing pushing barrels to her team’s base camp and again when a coaches’ punishment required her to run back to camp. “I knew I was gonna be first. I f—king knew it. So embarrassing,” Cartwright said on the episode. The season began with Cartwright’s departure as the cast faced the evening’s first endurance tests.
Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test premiered on Thursday night, and the premiere quickly centered on the demanding environment that Foxy and the coaches bring to the competitors. The show continues to juxtapose moments of tension with performances that reveal how contestants adapt under pressure, a dynamic captured in LaPaglia’s later acknowledgment of her own growth and Cartwright’s abrupt exit.
