Sydney Sweeney teases 'spicy' comeback in The Housemaid sequel, embraces female rage on screen
Actress hints at reprising Millie as director Paul Feig praises on-screen chemistry in adaptation of Freida McFadden's novel

Sydney Sweeney has not closed the book on the Housemaid. The Euphoria star says she would love to return for a sequel to the thriller based on Freida McFadden's 2022 novel. Sweeney plays Millie, a live-in housemaid trying to start fresh and leave her past behind. In an interview with People, she said: 'I would love to [reprise the role].'
She described Millie as 'spicy' and a fighter who stands up for what she believes in, adding that she loves films that fully embrace female rage. The project centers on Millie's work for Amanda Seyfried's Nina Winchester, who is married to Brandon Sklenar's Andrew Winchester. The logline describes the film as a 'seductive game of secrets, scandal and power.' Director Paul Feig has said the onscreen chemistry between Sweeney and Seyfried is 'through the roof,' and the two women also served as executive producers on the project.
On Friday the Euphoria star shared behind-the-scenes photos from the movie set on Instagram, writing to her 25.6 million followers: 'IN THEATERS NOW!!!!'
Earlier this year Sweeney posted a photo of a signed copy of the Freida McFadden novel, fueling talk of a potential continuation of Millie's story. Feig described Sweeney as 'body positive' and said she isn't fighting 'insecurity' like many stars. He told The Times: 'She's very proud of how she looks, and you should be.'
The siren had to film intimate scenes with co-star Brandon Sklenar for the new movie, and Sklenar said the duo didn't have any issues with performing nude on camera, though Feig has previously said nudity on set can make him uncomfortable. He praised the film's intimacy coordinator as a crucial addition to modern Hollywood: 'It's the greatest thing that's happened in Hollywood. When you have a 63-year-old man amongst all these beautiful young people, you don't want to be the pervy porn producer, telling people to do stuff.'
With Sweeney and Seyfried as executive producers, the project remains in development as a potential continuation of Millie's story, drawing renewed attention to the adaptation of McFadden's best-selling thriller.
