Tom Holland to return to Spider-Man: Brand New Day set after hospital stint
Actor to resume filming in Glasgow next week after a mild concussion; production pauses for recovery but 2026 release not expected to be affected

Tom Holland will resume filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Glasgow next week after a hospital stint, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 29-year-old actor is expected to return to the film’s set within seven days as production continues in Glasgow, Scotland. Sony executives reportedly hashed out a recovery plan, and studio bosses concluded it would be harder to shoot without Holland than to pause for a week. The brief halt is not expected to derail the movie’s 2026 release, insiders say.

Holland was treated for a mild concussion after a fall during a stunt at Leavesden Studios in Watford, England, the Daily Mail reported. The outlet said he cracked his head following the incident. The production pause follows those health concerns, with The Hollywood Reporter noting that Sony's leadership opted to proceed with a plan that accommodates his return rather than press on without him.
Despite the injury, Holland attended a charity event on Saturday with his fiancée and co-star Zendaya for The Brothers Trust, a UK-based charity he runs with his brothers.
Zendaya is expected to reprise her role as Michelle Jones. Other MCU stars set to appear include Mark Ruffalo, Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), Jon Bernthal and Michael Mando. Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas are also expected to join. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, teased the project in July, describing a direction that emphasizes a solo, street-level Spider-Man solving problems in his city rather than confronting world-ending threats. He framed the film as a continuation of Holland’s iteration of the character, with Peter Parker moving forward as a more defined, independent Spider-Man.
Filming in Glasgow has been ongoing since August 1, with the production also drawing on locations at Leavesden Studios in England for certain sequences. The studio did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the return timeline or injury reports. The status of the broader ensemble and the specific shooting schedule remain fluid as crews integrate Holland back into the production calendar.
