Tulsa King Season 3 debuts with Samuel L. Jackson; filming spans Oklahoma to Georgia

Tulsa King returned for its third season this weekend, with Samuel L. Jackson joining the cast as Russell Lee Washington Jr. in a guest arc that coincides with the show’s broader expansion into a spinoff world. The Paramount+ crime drama from Taylor Sheridan resumed on Sunday, Sept. 21, and dropped the first episode of a 10-episode season that will air weekly on Sundays. Jackson’s guest appearance precedes his leading role in the announced spinoff, Nola King, which is set in New Orleans. Sylvester Stallone described Dwight Manfredi as a character who lets him draw on his own experience, saying he’s aiming to be original rather than chase another actor’s mafia persona.

Filming for Tulsa King Season 3 took place primarily in Oklahoma and Atlanta, GA. The show previously anchored its first season in downtown Oklahoma City, while Season 2 shifted production toward Atlanta. The Macon Telegraph reported that Macon, Georgia’s Fatty’s Pizza served as a filming location for Season 3. Additionally, Stallone shared via Instagram that he shot a scene of Tulsa King Season 3 in New York City at the Mulberry Street Cigar Bar in Little Italy.

Like Seasons 1 and 2, Tulsa King Season 3 streams on Paramount+. The first episode is available now, and new episodes of the 10-episode arc will be released on Sundays. The show’s return comes just days after Paramount+ renewed the series for a fourth season, signaling continued expansion for the Dwight Manfredi universe and the broader Tulsa King universe, including the announced Nola King spinoff set in New Orleans.

Stallone spoke with DECIDER about his approach to Dwight, describing the character as a manifestation of his own inner longing to play himself on screen. He said he draws on his own experiences and rhythm to keep Dwight authentic, rather than imitating a conventional mafia figure. The extended cast remains a key part of the series’ appeal, with returning players and new guests contributing to the ongoing narrative across the Season 3 run.

Paramount+ has positioned Tulsa King as a flagship for its ongoing strategy of cross-franchise storytelling, with the Nola King spinoff representing a broader expansion into a shared universe rooted in the Tulsa King world. Viewers can expect a weekly cadence as the season unfolds, with the next episodes adding to a serialized arc that fans have followed since the show’s debut.

As production continues, fans and industry observers will be watching how the Oklahoma City and Atlanta shoots translate to the series’ evolving tone in Season 3, and how Jackson’s guest arc interacts with Stallone’s lead performance as Dwight. The broader rollout, including the spinoff and ongoing renewal, underscores Paramount+.
