UK's cosiest pubs for Christmas revealed
Eat Drink Meet names 10 festive venues nationwide, led by The Coal Hole in London.

Eat Drink Meet has named the United Kingdom’s cosiest pubs for Christmas, with The Coal Hole in Savoy Court on the Strand topping the list. The Grade II-listed venue first opened its doors in 1903 and is praised for history, character and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu features traditional festive fare, including hand-carved turkey with all the trimmings and a festive nut roast, with options such as pan-roasted salmon and a dark chocolate truffle torte also noted as seasonal highlights.
Trailing at number two is The Sandpiper in Ormskirk, West Lancashire, described as a 'charming country pub' set in a converted farmhouse. Guests can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside while tucking into a Christmas menu that includes apple and mince pie crumble and a selection of festive drinks.
Third place goes to The Black Bull in Gateacre, Liverpool, located close to the city centre for holiday shopping breaks. The pub welcomes dogs and its festive menu features twists such as a camembert and bacon stack burger and a turkey and pancetta pie.
Fourth is The Glover Arms in Huntingtontower Park, Perth, a country pub noted for its festive cheer and for hosting events such as breakfast with Santa during the season. Fifth is The Travellers Rest in Caerphilly, tucked away in Thornhill, offering a quiet retreat from the holiday bustle.
Sixth is The Old Cottage in Cardiff, which ranks among the cosiest spots this Christmas. The venue is followed by The Sheep Heid Inn in Edinburgh, a historic pub known for its crackling hearth and festive decorations that light up the season.
Eighth on the list is Bacchus Bar in Birmingham, situated near the city’s Christmas markets, while ninth is The White Lion in Allesley, offering a northern Coventry-inspired stop within easy reach of the city’s celebrations. Rounding out the top ten is The Old Bull and Bush in Hampstead, North London, a classic pub that has long drawn visitors seeking a warm seasonal welcome.
The full list reflects a year-end trend toward intimate, traditional spaces that emphasize wood fires, rustic decor and a sense of place during the holidays. The selection was compiled by Eat Drink Meet, which canvassed thousands of venues and highlighted pubs with festive menus that balance seasonal staples with regional twists. The rankings underscore the appeal of neighbourhood pubs as December destinations beyond the larger metropolitan venues, especially for those seeking a quiet, convivial setting to enjoy a pint, a meal or a family-friendly Christmas experience.
