Aldi issues second recall of Urban Eats gyoza over glass contamination

Aldi has recalled its Urban Eats Japanese Style Vegetable Gyoza, a frozen dumpling product, after glass was found inside some packages. The recall marks the second such action in less than two months. The 750-gram packs, with best-before dates from April 10, 2027, to June 15, 2027, were sold at Aldi stores across New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

FSANZ said the recall is due to the presence of foreign matter – glass. Food products containing glass may cause illness or injury if consumed. Consumers should not eat this product and should return the packs to the store where they were purchased for a refund. Aldi Stores Food Recall Hotline is 1800 709 993 for further information. The recall follows Aldi’s July action recalling the same gyoza product, which targeted batches with a best-before date of March 27, 2027 and had been sold nationwide.

In a separate action, FSANZ issued a recall notice for Fine Food WA’s crunchy brown rice salad sold at Woolworths stores in Western Australia due to potential Listeria contamination. The product, with a use-by date of September 22, 2025, should not be consumed, and shoppers should return affected items for a refund. Consumers who have health concerns are advised to seek medical advice.

Shoppers should monitor updates from Aldi and FSANZ for additional recall information. The two recalls underscore ongoing safety monitoring of frozen and ready-to-eat foods in the Australian market.
