Carnie Wilson has been readmitted to the hospital due to complications from the removal of her lap-band, a representative said Thursday. The 57-year-old singer, whose health journey includes multiple weight-loss procedures, underwent removal of the adjustable gastric band last week after a long history with the device. Wilson was readmitted after experiencing swelling and high blood pressure that doctors attributed to post-surgical recovery.

Wilson had announced last week that she would have the lap-band removed, posting from what appeared to be a hospital bed: 'Bye bye lap band!!!!!! Surgery tomorrow.' She later said she was out of the hospital and thanked her physician, Dr. Billy, but noted that swelling in her legs had worsened and that the high blood pressure was 'very scary.' She said doctors found an ulcer during the removal and an obstruction with food inside the band.

Medical teams adjusted her medications, and Wilson said the swelling had begun to subside. Still, the procedure to remove the silicone band was described as intense and required careful management of a number of post-surgical issues. The singer said she was grateful for the care she received and that she is on the mend.

Wilson has been candid in recent years about maintaining a healthy lifestyle rather than relying on medications for weight loss. In an interview with Fox News Digital in May, she described her wellness approach as a balance and said she would not take Ozempic or similar drugs, citing concerns after a friend was hospitalized. She said she avoids sugar and emphasizes healthier eating, noting that the foods she consumes influence her mood and energy.

Wilson's public health journey includes more than a decade of weight-loss efforts. She underwent lap-band surgery in 2012, and earlier in her career she and sister Wendy formed Wilson Phillips. The singer has spoken of losing more than 100 pounds with the help of prior gastric procedures and lifestyle changes.
