Frozen-food maker recalls 50 products over deadly-bacteria contamination

A frozen-food company has issued a recall of 50 products after tests detected contamination with a deadly bacterium in items sold under the Deep-brand Premium Select label.

Across frozen vegetables, ready-to-cook mixes and related products, the recall covers a wide range of items such as Surti Undhiu Mix, Baby Bhindi, Chikoo Slices, Guvar, Kantola, Karela Ring Cut, Methi Blocks, Sambhar Mix, Punjabi Tinda, Ratalu Sliced Violet Indian Yams, Tuvar Lilva, Suran, Surti Papdi, and Surti Papdi Lilva, among others. Most items are labeled KEEP FROZEN and come in standard household sizes, notably 12 oz (340 g) portions, with some varieties offered in larger sizes such as 2 lb (907 g) or 1 lb 8 oz (24 oz). An Aviyal Mix is listed at 14.1 oz (400 g), underscoring the range of products affected.

Company officials have listed dozens of stock-keeping units (SKUs) as affected, with representative examples including 24355, 24360, 25011, 25127 and 25193, among many others.

Consumers who purchased any of the implicated items should not eat them. They are advised to discard the products or return them to the retailer for a full refund or exchange, depending on retailer policy. The recall notice directs customers to contact the manufacturer or check the official recall list for exact SKU coverage.

Because the notice covers a broad mix of vegetables and pantry staples, shoppers are urged to review the recall list to determine whether their specific lot numbers are affected.

Contextually, the recall underscores ongoing safety measures surrounding frozen produce and the rapid withdrawal of products when contamination is detected. While the company has not disclosed illnesses tied to these items in the available notice, the breadth of the recall illustrates how quickly manufacturers and regulators respond to potential food-safety threats in widely distributed frozen goods.
