Katie Price stabs hand while making curry, posts graphic images after A&E visit

Katie Price, the 47-year-old former glamour model and television personality, has revealed a deep hand wound after accidentally stabbing herself while preparing a chicken curry and visiting an accident and emergency department for treatment.

Price posted graphic photographs to her Snapchat account showing a large, stitched cut on her tattooed left wrist and the long-bladed knife she said caused the injury. In captions accompanying the images, she said the blade had "ripped through" ligaments and nerves and left half her hand numb. She also shared a night-time photo of an A&E sign, saying she had not expected to end up there on a Friday night.

Price said she required stitches to close the wound. She later posted an image of her wrist after it had been stitched in hospital and showed the long blade she had been using. The television personality did not provide details on which hospital treated her.

Despite the injury and the visible bandage on her wrist the following evening, Price attended a birthday party in Newcastle for friend Chloe Ferry, where she performed a song for attendees. Videos shared from the event showed her on stage with a white bandage visible on her left wrist.

Price has regularly shared details of her personal life and health on social media. In recent months she has publicised the commercial success of her 2017 single "I Got You," which she noted reached the top of the iTunes chart and entered the Big Top 40. She has also talked publicly about her extensive history of cosmetic surgery, saying earlier this year that a botched Brazilian butt lift performed abroad was the most painful procedure she has had and that she would not have surgery in England again.

In media interviews and on podcasts, Price has described undergoing numerous procedures over many years, including repeated breast surgeries, rhinoplasties and facelifts. She has previously said complications from cosmetic procedures abroad influenced her decisions about subsequent treatments.

Emergency departments advise that deep lacerations that expose underlying structures, cause persistent numbness, or impair hand movement warrant prompt medical assessment to check for tendon, ligament or nerve damage and to determine whether specialist surgical repair is needed. Hand injuries can lead to lasting functional problems if associated damage is not identified and treated.

Price first came to wider public notice as a glamour model and later pursued television and music projects. She has also appeared on reality shows and in public competitions, including a 2005 attempt to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision selection process.

Her social media posts about the recent accident were publicly visible and included images that some outlets described as graphic. Price did not immediately provide updates on her medical prognosis or any planned follow-up procedures after the stitches.

Reported details about the incident and Price’s descriptions of ligament and nerve damage reflect her account posted on social media.
