Aaron Judge joins Babe Ruth club with historic night as Yankees top White Sox
Judge ties another record with his 50th and 51st homers in four seasons as New York extends its lead week into September.

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge became the fourth MLB player to hit 50 home runs in four seasons, slugging his 50th and 51st homers of the year in an 8-1 win over the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 24, 2025. The feat puts Judge in elite company alongside Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, marking a historic milestone for a player who already headlines a dynamic Yankees lineup.
Judge connected on his first homer in the second inning with two runners on base, a 392-foot shot off White Sox starter Jonathan Cannon that sailed into the Yankees’ bullpen and gave New York a 3-1 lead. After Cannon admitted the mistake, Judge paused only to celebrate with teammates before focusing on the task at hand. The performance continued to pile up as Judge went 3-for-4 with two homers and a walk, lifting his batting average to .328 and keeping him atop the American League in OPS at 1.136.
In the eighth inning, Trent Grisham followed with a two-run homer off White Sox reliever Cam Booser, setting the stage for Judge to pad the lead with a solo shot that traveled 395 feet into the right-field seats. The two homers in the inning helped the Yankees push the score to 8-1. Grisham’s blast and Judge’s follow-up underscored New York’s offensive depth and continued dominance in the late stages of a season that has seen the club climb back into contention.
Judge, who is in the midst of a heated AL MVP race with Seattle’s Cal Raleigh, is also positioned to become the tallest batting champion in major league history this season. The Yankees (90-68) have won seven of eight and moved to 22 games over .500, their best stretch in recent memory. The club also stands at 90 wins for the seventh time in the last eight full seasons, and they sit in a tie with the Toronto Blue Jays atop the AL East with four games remaining. The Blue Jays hold the tiebreaker, having led by five games with 11 left before a rough stretch.
"If you sit back and admire it, then you’re going to stop your momentum,” Judge said after the game. “Hopefully I have a long career here and we do some special things that we can talk about at the end." The Yankees will look to sweep the three-game series against the White Sox on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. ET.

The club’s surge in late-season form has drawn attention from across the league, as New York attempts to close out the season strong and position itself for postseason play. With the White Sox finishing out a difficult season, Chicago presented a platform for Judge to add to his already storied resume, a night that will be remembered for its impact on the standings as the clock winds down on the 2025 campaign.
