ABC rugby league commentator Andrew Moore discharged after massive heart attack
Moore returned home after 24 days in hospital and four operations, saying an uncharacteristic missed flight may have been an early warning sign.

Andrew Moore, a well-known ABC rugby league commentator, has returned home after suffering a sudden, massive heart attack that hospital staff feared he might not survive.
Moore was admitted to hospital last month and remained there for 24 days, during which he underwent four operations. He told ABC radio that an unusual episode the week before — missing a flight after calling a match in Melbourne — may have been an early warning sign.
"The Thursday night I worked in Melbourne and the Friday morning I did something I have never done before which was miss a flight," Moore said. He recounted feeling unwell the following days: on Sunday while at Parramatta he felt "off all day" and on Monday he woke at 4:30 a.m. with no energy and told his workplace he could not come in. He said he awoke with chest pains on the Wednesday morning.
Moore detailed the severity of the episode when speaking to ABC radio, saying at one point he told medical staff, "I'm not dying here in front of them." Doctors performed multiple procedures during his hospital stay. He said he is now back at home and focusing on recovery.
The commentator's account provides a timeline of symptoms that began with fatigue and an unusual missed flight and culminated in sudden chest pain that prompted emergency treatment. Moore, who has been a familiar voice in rugby league broadcasting, described the experience in his own words while updating listeners on his condition.
Medical teams treated Moore over the course of more than three weeks and carried out four operations as part of his care. He spoke to ABC radio to relay his experience and to explain how the early, atypical symptoms preceded the heart attack.
Moore's return home marks the start of his rehabilitation after a life-threatening cardiac event. He has not outlined a timeline for returning to broadcasting, and ABC has not provided additional comment beyond Moore's radio interview.
